SCORES of passengers, including drivers of vehicles, experienced unease on the Essequibo River after one of the ferries plying the Essequibo route developed a mechanical problem.
According to information reaching Guyana Chronicle, the MV Kanawan started its journey from Parika at around 05:00hrs and was sailing smoothly when it developed a mechanical problem.
Passengers, after an hour, began to panic and speed boat operators were called to assist passengers without vehicles. Approximately 15 vehicles, sick patients, businessmen and babies were onboard the vessel.
