A man who was sentenced in absentia to two years imprisonment was arrested Friday after he was found stashed among coconuts in a canter truck on Cotton Field Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Taxi driver, Stravo Evans, who has had many brushes with the law, was charged along with a group of men for carrying out a multimillion-dollar robbery at the Bourda Post Office in 2015.
Reports indicate that a party of policemen stopped a red and grey motor canter on the Cotton Field Public Road, Essequibo Coast with two occupants in the front seat, along with the driver.
Upon inspection, police noted that the vehicle, which was loaded with water coconuts, had someone hiding among the produce.
Police immediately observed that it was wanted man, Stravo Evans. He was arrested and taken into police custody and was handed over to the prison authority to commence serving his time.
Evans was also wanted by police in October last when he threatened to kill a mother of six, who is a nursery school teacher.
In addition, he was under investigation in cases that involved armed robbery, abduction and murder.
