KSM Investments has joined the list of high-profile sponsors to hop on board next Thursday’s annual Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Boxing Day horse race.
At the business’ Good Hope East Coast Demerara site, president of the KMTC Justice Cecil Kennard on Friday morning was presented with the sponsorship cheque by CEO/Director Mahadeo Panchu and family.
The sponsorship, which has now marked its third year, was directed towards covering the main prizes for the J and K Lower 7-furlong race. Winners of that event will bag a 1st place prize of $200 000 while 2nd place will take home $100 000, 3rd $50 000 and 4th $25 000.
CEO Panchu said his company was more than happy to continue supporting the horse racing fraternity and plans to do more in 2020.
“We (KSM Investments) recognise the importance of the sport of horse-racing. We also recognise the importance of horse-racing to Berbice, especially on the Corentyne area so we plan to continue supporting the Club in 2020”.
Justice Kennard, in his brief response to the kind gesture, said that the relationship between the two entities has grown over the years and he hopes that the next year will bring more for the sport, adding that sponsorship is very essential for the promotion and overall sustenance of any event.
Meanwhile, Justice Kennard said that he expects a brilliant day of racing come next week and stated that the turf is in excellent shape despite rain but they will be banking on good weather to facilitate what he said could be one of the biggest races in recent times. (Clifton Ross)
