NINETEEN ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) graduated from the Government Technical Institute (GTI) in Georgetown, on Thursday.
Twelve of them completed two-year programmes while the others completed year one of their programmes. The latter are continuing their studies.
Warrant Officer Class Two, Selwyn Douglas, was the Best Graduating Student in the Technician Certificate in Telecommunication Part One programme, and gained a national awards from the Ministry of Education for his outstanding performance.
Other top performers were Warrant Officer Class One, Sherlock Rigby (Best Graduating Student of the Refrigeration Level II programme), and Lance Corporal, Daeseia Junior (Best Graduating Student of the Electrical Installation Level II programme).
Graduates of two-year programmes were: WO1, Sherlock Rigby; Staff Sergeant, Leon Martin; Corporals, Osafo Jones, Rawl Wilson, Compton Hinckson, Tyrone Peters, Natisha Dos Santos, Lance Corporals Daeseia Junior, Eon Wilson, Shanesea Jack, Clavon Bacchus, and Mervin Rawlins.
Graduates of year one of their programmes were Corporals Kevon Leitch and Nicholas Riuchards and Lance Corporals Ingrid Inverary, Derrol Cummings, Deana Ash, Michael Persaud and Brandon Stephen.
