RESIDENTS of Port Kaituma, Region One, rejoiced on Thursday evening as electricity was restored to the community, Chief Executive Officer of Power Producers and Distributors Incorporated (PPDI), Dr. Aaron Fraser has confirmed.

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, through its agent – PPDI, had successfully transported the replacement engine to Port Kaituma, Region One.

The replacement engine arrived a few months after the community has been experiencing fluctuating power outages.

The Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson, sought to address this by replacing the old engine, to have residents resume their normal course of life as soon as possible.
The district has been without reliable access to electricity for over a month and last week residents protested the Port Kaituma Power and Light Inc. (PKPL), the company that provides electricity to the community.
