DARCIA BISSOON, the nurse who was hit down Friday morning on the Queenstown Public Road in Region 2,was air-dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Friday evening. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at that hospital.
The driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Bissoon was struck down Friday morning by a speeding car. The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 hrs in front of Gokul Hot Dog stand. Bissoon is from Bartica but works at the Suddie Health Centre.
According to Shelon Gokul, a resident of the area, she was in her house when she heard a loud impact. She immediately rushed out and saw a nurse lying on the ground. The car driver was also around. Gokul said she picked up the nurse in an unconscious state and took her to the Suddie Hospital.
Gokul said that to her understanding, the nurse was crossing the road to meet another nurse in a red car when she was unfortunately hit down by a taxi. The police were summoned to the scene and the driver is currently in police custody.
