Judiciary, magistracy saddened at passing of Chang

The Judiciary and Magistracy of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Chief Justice Ian Chang C.C.H., S.C., a true son of the soil who died at a city hospital on Saturday.

In a release the court said Justice Chang served as one of the nation’s Chief Justices from 2006 until his retirement in 2016. He also served with distinction in the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions for over 20 years. Justice Chang served his profession and fellow Guyanese with great honor and integrity. His was a life of service to the nation. He was respected for his phenomenal legal intellect and was a fountain of legal knowledge which he readily shared. Justice Chang’s death will undoubtedly leave a void in the justice system and with colleagues within the legal fraternity whose lives he impacted.
The Judiciary and Magistracy express condolences to the family and friends of Justice Ian Chang. May his soul rest in peace.
