GCC in total control against Ace Warriors in second-division two-day cricket

– Everest score 256 against GNIC in first-division encounter

GEOTGETOWN Cricket Club  (GCC)were enjoying a comfortable first innings lead when bails were lifted yesterday afternoon after day one in their Noble House Seafoods Second Division Two Day cricket clash against Ace Warriors at the Bourda Ground.

The home team’s spinners delivered before the top order played a few shots to carry them to a first innings lead.

GCC won the toss and opted to bowl first.   Their left arm spinners Stephon Wilson and Devon Lord did the damage early, before off spinner Winston Forrester cleaned up the lower order.

None of the visiting batsmen reached 20.  Premraj Persaud and Gopaul Ramgobin scored two boundaries each in their scores of 16 and 15 respectively as Ace Warriors folded for 38 from 18 overs.

What was spectacular about GCC’s innings was their clean slate of extras.

Wilson finished with 4-7 from seven overs, while Lord, who is playing his first game since returning from Canada, took 3-15 from six overs. Forrester also picked up two wickets.

In their turn in the middle GCC had reached 127-3 before play ended.

Opener Forrester scored 35 (5X4s, 1X6), while fellow opener Martin Pestano-Belle added 18 and Daniel Seegobin 13.  At the crease teenager Mavindra Dindyal was not out on 37, while Ronaldo Alimohamed is not out on 13.

FIRST DIVISION CLASH

Meanwhile, at the Everest Cricket Club ground, the home team had made inroads  into the visiting GNIC innings after they had lost the toss and were asked to take first strike in the GISE Star Party Rental and Trophy Stall First Division Two-Day cricket.
