Jagdeo has no respect for our elders

Dear Editor,
IT [is] easy to brush aside the recent vulgar tirade of Bharrat Jagdeo against World Cricket Icon, Chris Gayle, as obscenity used in “a private setting”, unless you know the real person talking on the phone.

His former wife (or so she had believed) has given us a narrative that laid bare the crude and cruel person Jagdeo was to her. Our women need to go back to that narrative.
But time and again, we also heard the narratives of the Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, who, from time to time, referred to Jagdeo’s “cuss-down mode”.

We probably did not pay enough attention to someone who was associated with Jagdeo, and who resigned from the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) after 50 years because of Jagdeo is dangerous, corrupt and vulgar politics.
How do we explain to the young ones the videos of “back balls” performed on women and his mockery of journalists he did not like, as “crows” and “vultures”?

Jagdeo has no respect for our elders. I recall how he called Dr. Yesu Persaud an “ignoramus” and Mrs. Janet Jagan, an “outsider” when she criticized his excesses.
But we will not forget how he placed Gayle in his “black book”, after the famous cricketer visited Linden while a PNC rally was being held. The “PPP god” decided that he would condemn Gayle, and put him in Lucifer’s Black Book where I suppose all those going to hell would be placed.

It is not alright for Jagdeo to say that he uses four-letter cuss words when he is angry. It is not alright for him to say that he uses obscenity from time to time. He is a national leader whose salary and perks are paid by taxpayers, and he is not free to disrespect anyone or, to cuss down our heroes!
