TWO men were, on Tuesday, busted with some $21.4M worth of Marijuana, the Custom Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) said.

The bust was made following an operation in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 15, which led to the arrest of the two men, who were in a motor car at Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
According to reports, on the day in question, about 03:00hrs, after conducting surveillance, CANU intercepted Shafeek Latif, 39, and Naresh Totoram, both residents of Tuschen New Housing Scheme, EBE. Both men were occupants of a Spacio motorcar at Parika Public Road, EBD.
The vehicle was intercepted by CANU ranks and two bulky salt bags containing the suspected narcotic were found on the back seat. The cannabis was weighed and amounted to 42.824 kilograms which carries the street value of $21,412,000, CANU said. Both men are in custody assisting in

investigations as CANU seeks to tighten its grip on narcotics distributors throughout the country.
