THE Queen’s College Old Students’ Association (QC-OSA), on Saturday, held an extra-ordinary general meeting at Queen’s College, Camp Street and Thomas Lands, Georgetown, during which it elected a new executive to run it affairs.
The meeting was attended by approximately 60 former students of the school in this the 175th Anniversary of Guyana’s premier high school. The returning officer appointed, Mr. Khalil Alli, duly declared the positions therein vacant and commenced elections to fill eleven (11) vacant positions on its executive committee. According to a release from the body following the electoral process, the following persons were elected to fill the corresponding positions:
1. Dr. Aaron Fraser – President
2. Ms. Pauline Chase – First Vice-President
3. Ms. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon – Second Vice-President
4. Ms. Martina McDonald-Johnson – Secretary
5. Ms. Babita Ram – Assistant Secretary/Assistant Treasurer
6. Ms. Nelsonia Persaud Budhram – Public Relations Officer
7. Mr. Kawbina Griffith – Physical Educator & Sports Advisor
8. Mr. Sanjeev Datadin – Member
9. Mr. Samuel Hinds, OE – Member
10. Mr. Devindra Kissoon – Member
11. Mr. Pearson Burch-Smith – Member
The Executive Committee is made up of fourteen (14) positions. Ms. Mizana Gonsalves is the current
treasurer. Mr. Errol Ramdhanny and Mr. James Rajroop are the other two members of
the executive committee.
The members thanked outgoing Secretary and Chair of the morning’s proceedings, Ms. Sharon Singh-Kreuter for her dedication and time, serving over the years. The Annual General Meeting of the Association is constitutionally due in March of each and every succeeding year. The Association has not held an AGM in the last three (3) years. The meeting saw the largest turnout of members in over a decade where Dr. Fraser was elected unopposed. The College celebrates its 175th anniversary this month, for which several exciting activities are planned.
