THE Region 114 Sports Community will be holding a grand one-day horseracing meeting on Sunday, October 27, at the Georgetown Turf Club, Mocha, East Bank Demerara.
According to coordinator Compton Sancho, seven races are carded for the meet with the feature event being the J and K Class horses. The winner will collect $180 000 second $90 000, third $45 000 and the fourth-placed will collect $22 500.
Other events on the card are the I/Open, L-Non winners, the Unclassified, the L3, the 2-year-old Maidens and the first-time starters. Over $3M in cash prizes and trophies will be up for grabs.
“So far work is ongoing at the venue so as to have the venue ready for race day. The management will be assisting horses coming from Corentyne, Berbice, with their bridge crossing. Most of the country’s top 1 and K Class will be in action,” the committee said in a release.
Meanwhile, horse owners are asked to register their horses with the name and correct class. No late entry will be allowed.
Red Regent Release, Heat Victoria, Lucky Lucky, First Prince, Byron Call, She’s Royal Up Front, Amazon Warrior, Up Top Boss, Up Rising, Red Jet, School Boy, Poor People Money, Quick Kiss, Early Bird and Unruly are some of the horses that are expected to be on show.
