Albertown stabbings stemmed from argument over cigarettes

THE two men who killed each other after an argument over cigarettes in Fifth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown Friday night were identified as “Rastaman” (only name given) and 25-year-old, Jermain Adrian Jeffery.

Jeffery was a labourer of Lot 48 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths which occurred about 21:40hrs Friday night.

Initial investigations have revealed that “Rastaman” was selling cigarettes at his stall when Jeffery approached to purchase but was refused, resulting in an argument, which escalated into a scuffle.

During the scuffle, they both wounded each other. Jeffery and Rastaman were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where they were both pronounced dead on arrival.

Relatives said that Jeffery left his mother’s residence intoxicated and, 30 minutes after, they received a call that he was injured. Jeffery is the eldest of four siblings.
Police are continuing their investigations.
