A 29-year-old hire car driver was on Wednesday remanded to prison for the murder of Nigel Lesley Matthews, 49, also called “Tubby”, of Lot 14 Springlands, Berbice.
The driver, Neshawn Williams called “Blacka” appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Renita Singh and was not required to plead. He was remanded to prison until September 19, 2019 and the case was transferred to the Springlands Magistrate’s Court for report and fixture.
Nigel Lesley Matthews, a poultry farmer, was on August 26, 2019 found dead with three stab wounds to his chest.
His body was found on the road in front of an abandoned house at Rampoor, Corriverton, Berbice.
An initial investigation has revealed that the deceased and four others were gambling, during which the now dead man accused the suspect of flipping a card, which resulted in a heated argument.
However, a few hours later his motionless body was discovered.
