FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Roy Persaud of 352 Third Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, appeared at the Providence Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman on Friday to answer a charge of assault.

It was alleged that on July 14, 2019 at Third Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, Persaud committed the offence against Shivannie Singh, also of Third Street Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.

Persaud pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the magistrate for a light sentence.
Persaud told the court that he did not attack the virtual complainant Shivannie Singh on the day in question.
The matter has been adjourned to July 30.
