ALMOST two weeks after he was hit by a motor car as he was cycling along the Fyrish Public, Corentyne, schoolboy Omalley Jonas succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was a patient.
Government pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh, who conducted a post-mortem examination on Thursday, gave the cause of his death as multiple injuries consistent with a motor vehicular accident.
The body of the 12-year-old has since been handed over to his father, Lester Jonas, for burial.
On July 5 last, at approximately 09:30hrs, the Lower Corentyne Secondary School student had left his Courtland Village home and was riding a bicycle along the main thoroughfare when the accident, involving motor hire car HC 9414, occurred.
The injured preteen was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was treated, prior to being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he died.
The driver of the motor vehicle is expected to be charged shortly.
