THIS section of the newspaper is called ‘The Buzz’ for a very good reason, as it’s where the most exciting news in Guyana is first announced.

What we can tell you is that what will be ‘buzzing’ from now to probably the end of the year, is the talk about the ‘Revelation’ sound clash that will be setting foot in Guyana on August 31.

Of recent times, sound clashes in Guyana have had great reception. The market for Reggae and Dancehall music is definitely here, but however, needs greater opportunities to propel.

Realising that need, popular Jamaican promoter, Isaiah Laing has selected Guyana as the next demographic to share a taste of the Dancehall experience that he has created in his home country.

Laing is the Chairman of Supreme Promotions, and is also owner of the popular stage show in Jamaica, ‘STING’.

Tommy Lee

‘Sting’ was first staged over 30 years ago, and some of the biggest names have played and performed at the famous Boxing Day show. Additionally, Dancehall icons such as Ninja Man, Buju, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel and Mavado, were made on Sting’s stage.

This experience is coming to Guyana’s soil on August 31, 2019, at a venue that will be announced at a later date. This stage, however, will take the format of a clash between the best out of the two countries (Jamaica and Guyana).

Guyana’s own clash champion, DJ Magnum from Notorious Sound, along with Slingerz Sound will look to out-do the legendary Fire Links and ‘Di General Pink Panther’. The challenge is also open to any Guyanese female DJ to clash with Jamaica’s female DJ, Sashae.

While you think this might be a night of clashing, it gets even better. Dancehall artiste, ‘Tommy Lee’, the Sparta Boss, will also be taking over the stage.

The night is said to give an experience of a lifetime, as Supreme Promotions set out to revive and preserve the life of Reggae and Dancehall music. Guyanese patrons are asked to prepare for the great revelation, and prepare to have the time of their lives.

Pink Panther

Laing told ‘The Buzz’ that the entire show will be videotaped and rebroadcast on various international platforms.

It gets even better! Just like the open stage that is given at ‘Sting’ to provide a stage for new acts to be discovered, that same opportunity will be extended to our local acts.

Artistes will be given the opportunity to take the stage, and the top three acts will be selected to travel to Jamaica to perform at the return of the Sting show, on December 26, 2019.

More exciting news to be announced. Stay tuned to ‘The Buzz’.
