PRINCIPAL Magistrate Faith McGusty, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, remanded a 23-year-old security guard to prison for simple larceny.
Garfield Edwards, of 3550 Stevedore Housing Scheme, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied that, on Monday July 15, 2019, at Church Street, he stole a black handbag which contained a water bottle, a lunch bowl, a wallet and cash, total of $20,500.
The Police prosecutor, Annalisa Brummel, told the court that, on the day in question, the virtual complainant (VC) was on her way to work and while waiting for traffic to ease up to cross the road, the defendant ‘rolled up’ on a bicycle and snatched the VC’s bag and made good his escape.
The matter was reported and Edwards was later arrested and charged. The prosecutor objected to Edwards being granted bail.
Magistrate McGusty remanded Edwards to prison and the case was adjourned until July 31, 2019.
