South Ruimveldt man remanded for stealing from cousin

A 29-year-old unemployed man was, on Friday, remanded to prison for breaking into his cousin’s home and stealing $2.3M worth in items.

Akeem Prince of Sugar Cane Street, South Ruimveldt appeared before Principal Magistrate, Faith McGusty, on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Particulars of the charge alleged that between June 1, 2019, and June 25, 2019, at Sugar Cane Street, Prince broke and enter the dwelling place of Romario Forbes-Prince and stole 112 car tires and a quantity of household appliances amounting to $2.3M.

Prosecutor, Ceon Blackman, objected to bail being granted to Prince citing the fact that he was left in the home by the victim and he took advantage his trust and stole from him.
“I don’t know if he feels that he work at courts,” Blackman told the court as he explained that none of the items was recovered.

Magistrate McGusty remanded Prince to prison until July 19, 2019.
