TWO youths have died after their speeding car crashed into a coconut tree off the

Naarstigheid Public Road, West Coast Berbice, around 21:00hrs on Wednesday.
The vehicle exploded, resulting in the deaths of the driver, Dhaniram Dhanraj, 22, and Kelvin Artherly Warde, 25, both of Chester Village, West Coast Berbice.

Another passenger, Parmanand Arjune, 17, managed to escape but not before receiving burns to his back and hands. He is hospitalised at Fort Wellington Cottage Hospital.
Reports revealed that motor car PVV 7792 was proceeding west along the south carriageway along the Naarstigheid Public Road at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control.
The vehicle ran off the road and collided with a coconut tree before exploding.
Arjune, who was seated in the back seat managed to exit the vehicle and was picked up in a semi-conscious state and taken to Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor.

He was admitted and is currently being treated for first degree burns to the back. Meanwhile, the driver and passenger were burnt beyond recognition in the car.
Firefighters attached to the Onverwagt Fire Station responded and extinguished the blaze. The remains of the men were taken to a nearby health institution where their deaths were confirmed. Their bodies are at Anthony Funeral Parlour awaiting post-mortem.
