EPHRAIM Blackett of 518 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with using abusive language.

According to the prosecution, Alli and Blackett reside at the same address, 518 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. The two were involved in a long-running dispute, which culminated in an altercation between them on Monday, May 27, 2019; during the altercation, Blackett used abusive language to Alli. The matter was reported to the police and Blackett was subsequently arrested and charged.

Blackett, who had pleaded not guilty, was nevertheless found guilty and fined $40 000.
