MAYOR of the City of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, has officially proclaimed May 26 as “Guyana Day”.

A photo of the proclamation was posted by Las Vegas Latin Caribbean Festival Inc., which is a non-profit community and cultural organization in the State of Nevada.

The proclamation read: “I, Carolyn G. Goodman, Mayor of the City of Las Vegas, do hereby proclaim May 26, 2019 as Guyana Day in the City of Las Vegas and ask all residents to recognise this country’s 53rd Anniversary.”

On May 26, this year, Guyana will observe its Independence anniversary which signals 53 years of being independent of British colonial rule.

The proclamation further read: “We salute the men and women from this nation who now reside in Las Vegas and help to promote cultural understanding and make southern Nevada such a diverse and fabulous place to call home.”
