When friends ‘fall out’

SENIOR Magistrate Faith McGusty, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, remanded Rayon Williams to prison for malicious damage to property.

Williams was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied that, on April 19, 2019, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he damaged a 192 motorcar window valued $50,000, the property of Fizal Mohammed

According to the facts presented in court by Prosecutor Seon Blackman, both parties are friends and Williams would frequently visit Mohammed’s home. However, on the day in question, there was an argument between the two friends which resulted in Mohammed banning Williams from entering his yard. Blackman related to the court that while inside his home, he heard a loud noise and saw Williams smashing his car windows with a piece of wood. The matter was reported to the police and Williams was arrested.

In court, Williams requested to pay compensation, which caused Magistrate McGusty to adjourn the matter until April 26, 2019. Williams was refused bail and was remanded.
