Sophia man facing multiple charges

SENIOR Magistrate Faith McGusty on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, remanded 27-year-old Seon Lampkin to prison on a series of charges, including escaping lawful custody and robbery.

Included among the charges are: escaping lawful custody, robbery and attempting to commit a felony. Lampkin, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The first charge read that on April 16, 2019, at Main Street, Georgetown, Lampkin robbed Janay DaSantos of a $5,000 handbag along $8,000 in cash.

The second charge alleged that Lampkin attempted to rob Uris Alleyne during the same incident.

The third charge read that on the same date at High Street, Georgetown, Lampkin, while being in police custody, unlawfully assaulted police officers Wilson and Keron .

Finally, while being escorted to the Diamond/Grove Police Station lockups in a police vehicle, Lampkin attempted to escape on High Street, Georgetown.

Blackman explained that Lampkin tried to relieve the two officers of their firearms and was shot to his abdomen. He was taken to a city hospital, where he was treated.

The prosecutor opposed bail for Lampkin, contending that he is a flight risk. He was therefore remanded to prison until May 15, 2019.
