DELLON Smith 23, who was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, was on Wednesday found guilty by Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Providence Magistrates’ Court and jailed for 18 months.
Smith is accused of committing the offence on Paul London on January 26, 2019, at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
When asked by Magistrate Sunil Scarce if he had anything to say before the sentenced was handed down, Smith told the court that “he has a family to maintain and jail time is waste time.”
However, Magistrate Scarce told Smith that he is reducing his sentence from five years to 18 months, because he does not like to see young men go to jail.
