SIX persons were left homeless on Tuesday after a fire destroyed their ‘Second Corner’, Lovers Lane’ residence in Linden, Upper Demerara- Upper Berbice.

Reports are that the fire occurred on Tuesday morning around 11:00hrs, while a man, who goes by the name ‘Kevin’, was at home asleep and the rest of the family was out.

According to the neighbours, after hours of power outage, the power returned and they heard a sudden “boof”. They then saw smoke emanating from two-storey concrete building followed by the fire.

Officer in Charge at the Linden Fire Station, Kirklan Harry, said that he, along with his team, responded to the fire with two trucks. They were able to put the fire out. However, Harry is unable to say what caused the fire. An investigation is still ongoing. The house belongs to a Bosai worker, Nigel Anthony. The Guyana Chronicle was unable to contact Anthony.
