A mother of three attending a funeral in the USA will have to return home to bury her husband who was killed in a hit and run accident on Sunday evening at Madewini, Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Dead is 50-years-old Peter Billison of Lot 17, Soesdyke Public Road, EBD. His eldest son is 22-years old and the youngest is 14.

Reports indicate that Billison was on a bicycle proceeding north along the western side of the roadway when he was struck down from behind by a motorcar whose driver drove away.

As a result, the cyclist sustained injuries about his body.He was picked up in an unconscious condition by public spirited persons and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police are in the process of gathering information with the intention of locating the motorcar which struck the man down.

The man’s son Nicholas Billison told this publication that a friend of his father’s visited their home and related the devastating news.

He described his father was an amazing man who worked at the Guyana Forestry Commission and was the sole breadwinner of the family.

The man’s body was taken to Lyken Funeral Parlour for a post-mortem examination as investigations into his death continue.
