DEVON Wills and Andre Scott were on Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on charges of robbery under arms and discharging a loaded firearm with intent to harm.
Wills, a 26-year-old resident of 64 West Ruimveldt and 26-year-old Andre Scott, of 18 Punt Trench Dam, are accused of discharging a firearm at Anastacia Rodrigues on March 8, 2019, with the intention of causing actual bodily harm. It is also alleged that on the same date, they also discharged a loaded firearm at Rodrigues’s 13-year-old son. Both incidents reportedly occurred at Campbell and Sussex streets, Albouystown.
The duo was represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson, who pleaded for his clients to be granted bail; his plea, however, went unheeded by the court.
According to Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, on the day in question, the defendants went to the home of Rodrigues and questioned her about her nephew’s whereabouts. After their interrogation, the two men shot at the woman and her son; as a result, the juvenile was shot in his right hand.
In a separate incident, Scott is charged with robbery under arms, allegedly committed against Grace Bishop on March 10, 2019. According to the particulars of the charge Scott, in the company of others, robbed Bishop of seven pennyweights of raw gold, valued at $90,000 and $50,000 in cash. The defendant however, denied involvement in any such robbery.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail, because of the serious nature of the offence and the fact that guns were used in the crime. The two accused will appear again on April 8, 2019.
