REGION Two fisherfolks are expected to see a spike in business as an exporter has indicated his interest in purchasing large quantities of Seafood from them.
Fishers, primarily from the Abram Zuil/Cullen areas, are expected to benefit from the initiative.
Exporter G and L Inc, an exporter of shrimps to the US, Jamaica, China and South Korea, would establish a seafood processing/cold storage facility at Abram Zuil.
The exporter approached Regional Executive Officer, Denis Jaikarran, and expressed an interest to upgrade an existing government facility that was built for fishermen in the area but has been out of operation for years.

The area was recently visited by Jaikaran and the Regional engineer, Kawan Suchit.
The team also visited the Abram Zuil/Cullen outfall channel and met with fisherfolks. The area has approximately 30 fishermen who solely depend on fishing for their livelihoods.
During the interaction, fishermen called on the REO to represent their interest and called upon the administration to desilt the outfall channel leading into the sea. They also called for the construction of the roadway leading to the beach. Fisherfolks in the area were very happy over the announcement which will provide more business for them.
