AS a result of the recent ministerial outreach to Region Nine – held between February 15 and February 17, 2019 – Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, promised the residents that he will provide replacement batteries for the solar energy system at Aishalton Secondary School.
This was one of the concerns of the residents in Region Nine during the outreach. The solar energy panels that usually power the school are currently in bad condition. When the ministers visited the school, Minister Trotman examined the equipment and batteries and was briefed of the problem at hand.
Many residents are dismayed at the conditions under which they currently live and is calling on the appropriate team to address the problems they face.
“We are looking at it, and we are working on them, and I will be back later this year to give you an update on what is going on, but I think we all agree that the mining is, or the gold and the minerals, are part of God’s gifts to us and how we use them, we must do so in a responsible way, and each one of us has a right to partake in them,” he said.
He reassured the residents that he is committed to ensuring a safe environment for the citizens and highlighted the necessary steps being taken to formulate a plan to tackle various issues the region is facing.
Residents voiced their concerns as it related to the condition of the roads and water pollution. He made them aware that the administration is currently looking for solutions to rectify the issues in the coming months.
