ON Sunday last, the GCC hockey clubs reigned supreme on home turf, to register wins in the ongoing Guyana Hockey Board’s (GHB) First Division Outdoor League at GCC.
In the two matches that were played, GCC Vintage defeated the national developmental team, Supernova 3 -1 in the first encounter.
The match was equal at 1-1 at the half, with Orson Ferguson netting for GCC in the fourth minute, while Hilmar Chester equalised for the juniors eight minutes after.
However, Orland Semple netted twice in the second half to leave the score on 3-1 after the final whistle, to hand Vintage the win.
The final match between Old Fort and Bounty GCC was a one-sided affair, with the latter dominating the game, and which was reflected in the 7-0 score line.
GCC only scored once after the first 30 minutes, courtesy of Meshach Sergeant’s field goal.
The second half, however, saw six goals netted with Alan Fernandes, Mark Sergeant, Kareem McKenzie, Kevin Spencer, Meshach and Devin Hooper, all grabbing a goal apiece to seal maximum points.
