Lands Commission warns against unauthorised surveyors

THE Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GL&SC) says all surveyors, both local and foreign, are required to apply to be registered annually in keeping with the Land Surveyors (Profession Act) of 2014.

The commission in a release noted that all foreign surveyors must be registered before approval is granted for them to practise in Guyana.

It pointed out that approval must be sought in writing from the commissioner of GL&SC and only approved and registered surveyors will be permitted to undertake surveys.

The commission emphasised that under Section Four of the GL&SC Act, Chapter 59:05, it is authorised to execute geodetic, topographic, hydrographic and cadastral surveys in relation to land and water resources.

Those found in breach of the regulations will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, the release said.
