IAN Mekdeci (5) and Samuel Ince-Carvalhal (3) joined Medhi Ramdhani (8) and Jonathan Antczak (6) in the quarter- final stage of the ongoing Bounty Farm Limited Handicap squash tournament.
It was a quiet Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown Club as quarter-finals for the plates were played.
First up were Mekdeci (5) and Lydia Fraser (10). Fraser started off in good form to win the first game 15-11, but Mekdeci warmed up in the second to dominate a 15-9 win.
In his stride now, Mekdeci comfortably earned nine straight points in the third, before Fraser managed to win back the serve, but she was unable to hold on and Mekdeci powered home to a 15-8 match game; securing his place in the Open Plate semi-finals this evening.
Also moving on to the Open Plate semis are Samuel Ince-Carvalhal who defeated Tony Farnum (10) 15-8, 15-8; Medhi Ramdhani (8), who bested Dane Pereira (10) 15-10, 15-13; and Jonathan Antczak (6) with a walkover.
In the only Category A Plate match, Ethen Jonas (-4) beat Brenno DaSilva (13) 15-14, 15-13.
Last night’s matches began at 18:00hrs and will decide who will play in today’s final.
