THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Valentine’s Day received a special donation of prized books from internationally-renowned Guyanese security expert, Yeon Adams.

Adams served the Guyana Police Force from 1986 to 1988. He migrated to the US and served a period of 19 years as an international civil servant across five United Nations’ departments, including the Department of Safety and Security (DSS) and Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).

Commissioner of Police Leslie James expressed warm and welcoming words as he spoke of Dr Adams whom he, as well as Deputy Commissioner Maxine Graham and Woman Superintendent, A. Moore, trained with.

But beyond reminiscence, the top cop expressed appreciation to Adams for the kind gesture.

The books were taken from Adams’ personal library and span several genres encompassing, but not limited to, law enforcement, criminal justice, policing and research.

Adams expressed gratitude and appreciation to the force which served as an initial training ground, propelling him to reach higher heights in life.

Adams holds a PhD in Public Safety Leadership, a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Criminal Justice and Computer Information Systems, among others.

He has written numerous research articles including his dissertation: “ A Phenomenological Study of Caribbean Police Collaborative efforts” – Capella University, MN, USA, and has made numerous presentations for institutions such as the United Nations Enterprise Resource Programme (ERP) and the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to name a few.

The new books will be added to the Guyana Police Force’s library and will be available for use by members of the force.
