A MINER of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was arrested on Tuesday after he was found with an unlicensed .38 Revolver, 10 matching rounds and 354 grammes of cannabis.
Police said law enforcement in ‘F’ Division (interior locations) acting on information received, went to the miner’s location at Obama Road, Upper Mazaruni about 13:15hrs on Tuesday, conducted a search and found the items.

In a separate incident, police are hunting for a man who threw a shotgun into the bushes and escaped after seeing them. The incident occurred while the police were conducting a patrol at Makari Landing, Upper Mazaruni River.
Police said that they observed the male shopkeeper of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, acting in a suspicious manner and on approaching closer, the suspect tossed a long object into the bush and escaped.
The object was immediately retrieved and found to be an unlicensed shotgun.
