A 33-year-old taxi driver was on Wednesday taken before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, having been charged for defrauding Speed Talk Mobile Operation, Inc of $3.7M worth in Digicel phone ‘top-up’.
Frankie Dickson, a former employee of the company, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that between June 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018, at Georgetown, while being solely entrusted by the Mobile Company, he collected $3.7M worth in Digicel ‘Top-up’ and promised to sell same and return the proceeds, but converted same to his own use and benefit.
Police Prosecutor Ceon Blackman strongly opposed the releasing of Dickson on bail, citing the amount of money involved.
However, Magistrate McGusty overruled the prosecution’s objection and released Dickson on $250,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until February 13, 2019.
