SENIOR Magistrate, Leron Daly, on Friday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court remanded two homeless men to prison for stealing a quantity of female lingerie and slippers.
Harry Mowanie and Leslie Ferdinand both denied the charge which alleged that, on January 23, 2019, at the Stabroek Market Wharf, they stole a quantity of brassieres, 30 pairs of slippers and 10 panties worth $391,000, property of Mondale Rogers.
Prosecutor Sanj Singh strongly opposed the release of the duo on bail, citing that the defendants had no fixed place of abode.
Singh also noted that, when the duo was arrested by the police, some of the stolen items were found in their possession.
Magistrate Daly remanded the duo to prison until March 1, 2019.
