A FORMER policeman was, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, sentenced to four years in prison by Senior Magistrate, Leron Daly, for trafficking cocaine pellets at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

Former constable, Louie Dublin, was on trial and was found guilty of having 558 grammes of cocaine in his possession, at the Lotus Restaurant and Bar located at the CJIA, Timehri, on March 17, 2017.

At the end of the trial, Magistrate Daly ruled that Police Prosecutor Richard Harris had proved his case that Dublin, on the day in question, had knowledge and control of the cocaine which was found in his possession.

Meanwhile, Delvor Bunbury Jr. and Gavin Harris who were also charged separately were freed, due to the lack of evidence.

The prosecution’s case was that Dublin, on March 17, 2017, was arrested with the cocaine pellets during a sting operation, at the airport, after ranks became suspicious of his actions.
Dublin had given a caution statement to the police to the effect that Delvor Bunbury Jr and Gavin Harris had given him the bag with the drugs.
