A 21-year-old auto body technician, Brian Basdeo, was killed, while his friend was injured during a hit-and –run accident on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Saturday night.
According to Basdeo’s cousin, the auto body technician was allegedly called to take a friend’s car from the highway to his home where his workshop is.

In order to get the vehicle down to Georgetown, he had to tow it with his vehicle but, the vehicle which was being towed had to be guided by the friend.
“I hear when them de coming down the vehicle had some problems so they come out to inspect the problem,” said Basdeo’s cousin.

The technician was reportedly stooping to inspect the problem and his friend was beside him when a speeding car hit them both.

“When we reach on the scene about one hour later we hear the man knock them and drive away… when we reach deh my cousin body still went on the ground,” said the relative.
Both men were reportedly rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where Basdeo was pronounced dead on arrival and his friend was diagnosed with a broken leg. The friend was reportedly treated and sent home.

Basdeo’s relative said they were called into the station for questioning as an investigation into the accident continues.
