OLYMPIC prospect Narayan Ramdhani dominated the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) tournament to win the Men’s Singles to start his 2019 season.

The 20-year-old, who is studying in Canada, represented the King’s University Eagles by dominating the singles and by finishing fourth with collegemate, Joel Simrose, in the doubles.

The most dominant badminton player in Guyana, who only last November won the first ACAC competition, was the top-seeded player in the four-university competition, which was recently played at the Nait College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

He drew a bye in the opening round before defeating Nait’s Taab Khwaja 21-3 and 21-10 in the quarterfinal; teammate Simrose 21-9, 21-6 in the semi-final and second ranked Tyler Walsh from Nait 21-14 and 21-9 in the final.

The Guyanese and Simrose reached the semi-final after beating Olds College pair of Emil John Aquino and Reece Taubert 21-10 and 21-12, but went down to Nicolas Pittman and Desmond Wang from Concordia University 21-8, 21-10 in the final four.
The Kings pair then lost to the Nait pair of John Li and Walsh 21-14, 21-10 in a third-place clash.

The circuit will continue with the ACAC third round on February 3 at the Olds College, followed by the ACAC Championships from February 17 at the Concordia University.
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is the governing body for collegiate sports in Alberta, Canada.
