Narco-trafficker gets three years, fined $1.3M

AFTER eight months of trial, Ras Parris was on Friday found guilty and sentenced to three years imprisonment along with a fine of $1.3 million for trafficking narcotics.

This ruling was handed down by Principal Magistrate Faith Mcgusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman provided enough evidence to convict the man.

The 36-year-old Parris, who resides at Sussex Street Albouystown, first appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly. The particulars of the charge stated that on March 29, 2017 at lot 3720 North Ruimveldt, Parris had 908 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

According to police facts, on the day in question, the police acting on information received conducted a raid at addresses mentioned in the charge and during the search they discovered two transparent plastic bags containing several small transparent zips lock plastic bags, each filled with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Marijuana. As a result, the defendant was told of the offence he committed and cautioned, in which the Marijuana was weighed in his presence amounting to 908 grams.
