Gold and Diamond Miners Association supports GFF Super 16 tourney

WITH the grand finals set for January 1 at the GFC ground, Bourda, the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) has donated an undisclosed sum to the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) STAG Beer-sponsored ‘Super 16’ year-end tournament.

The presentation was made on December 20 by GGDMA’s Administrative Manager, Avalon Jagnandan to GFF’s Marketing Coordinator, Andrew Small.

The agency extended its best wishes for a successful tournament and indicated its interest in a long-term partnership with the GFF.

The GFF-Stag “Super 16” Year-end tournament kicked off on Friday December 14 and is at the midway point with four double-headers remaining, culminating with the third-place playoff and final.

Meanwhile, the venue for the second qualifier on December 26 and the semi-finals on December 28 respectively has been shifted to the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora while the final is now scheduled for the GFC ground, Bourda.

The tournament winner will walk away with $2M, a trophy and equipment; the second-placed team will receive $1M, a trophy and equipment; the third place team will get $500,000, a trophy and equipment while the fourth-placed team will receive a trophy and equipment. The tournament will conclude with the grand finals on January 1 at a venue to be announced.

Admission fee is: $1,000 (semi-finals) and $1,500 for the final.
