THE winner of the inaugural KFC Goodwill cup will be determined tonight when the final two matches in the tournament takes place at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The three-day tournament featured Guyana’s Annai, Christiansburg/Wismar Secondary School,Annandale Secondary and Trinidad’s Shiva Hindu Boys College in head to head matches.
Shiva’s boys, who are the 2016 T&T school league champions, are more likely to lift the cup after winning both their matches competed, while Annai Secondary have a slim chance of pulling off an upset if they can beat Annandale by two or more goals and hope Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) beat the lads from the twin-island republic.
Reigning champions of the Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers 12-team school league, Annandale Secondary have had a horrible start by losing in extra-time to CWSS while suffering a 2-1 defeat at the boot of Shiva’s Hindu College.
Meanwhile, Annai lost the opening match of the tournament 3-0 to Shiva’s Hindu College, while outplaying CWSS during their 3-0 win over the Lindeners last Tuesday.
This evening’s play will kickoff at 16:30hrs with an exhibition match between Queen’s College and Marian Academy before South Rupununi’s Annai matches its skill with Annandale at 18:00hrs. The feature game between CWSS and Shiva’s Hindu College is slated for 20:00hrs.
