Carol Smith-Joseph and Harry Gill charged with assaulting each other

PEOPLE’s National Congress (PNC) Regional Secretary in Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) Carol Smith-Joseph and People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Member of Parliament Harry Gill appeared in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with assaulting each other.

The charge against Smith Joseph was that on November 7 at Fort Wellington, she assaulted Gill so as to cause him actual bodily harm; she pleaded not guilty. Gill, asked to plead to the charge that he assaulted Joseph on the same date also pleaded not guilty. Joseph was represented by Attorneys-at-Law James Bond and Darren Wade. Gill was represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Anamayah. Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh before whom they appeared freed them on their own recognizance and fixed February 6, 2019 for trial.
