West Ruimveldt to clash with North Georgetown in final today

NEW champions will be unveiled today when the final of the 2018 Smalta Girls’ Under-11 Pee Wee football tournament concludes at the Ministry of Education (MoE) ground.
After a month of competition, North Ruimveldt Primary School will match skills with West Ruimveldt Primary in the final which is scheduled to kick off at 15:45hrs.

In their semifinal last Saturday, North held on to a one-goal lead and snuffed out all attacking threats from South Ruimveldt skipper and leading goalscorer Fayon Henry, who was isolated at the top.

With that result, it means that a new champion will be crowned today.
The other finalists, West Ruimveldt, didn’t have it easy against St Pius girls in their semifinal and the losers ensured that the match had to be decided via kicks from the penalty mark.

Seona France had given the finalists an early lead with a successful strike in the 5th minute but Christal Archer levelled up just before halftime.
However, West held their nerve to win the shootout 3-2.
