A Zeelugt , East Bank Essequibo family was thrown into a state of shock on Saturday morning after their 15-month old baby boy was crushed by a truck in front of the family’s home.

The incident,which left Terrence Antonio Wilson dead, occurred around 06:30hrs on Saturday.

Police said the occupants of the truck, bearing registration GVV 363, was selling cooking gas and kerosene in the area. It was stopped at Access Road, Zeelugt by the child’s grandparent, who sought to make a purchase.

The child reportedly ventured out of the yard and went under the vehicle, unknown to anyone. He was subsequently crushed by one of the rear wheels of the truck.

The 27-year-old driver of the truck is in police custody assisting with investigations.
