ADRIAN Fernandes of Team Ramchand Wreckers is the 2018 Endurance Champion of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMRSC).

Fernandes, who drives the 211 Toyota Levin, sponsored by Gillette and operating under the Ramchand Wreckers team was his usual timid self after the receipt of the award.

Speaking to Chronicle Sport afterwards, he said, “The team did a great job but I have to say that the car stood up (to the pressure) and it performed. I’m just happy to have the trophy.”

Fernandes scored a perfect 75 points from three endurance outings.

Romeo Singh picked up the unlimited class champion driver with 43 points while there was a three-way tie in the 1601-2000cc class between the teams of Roshan Ali and Shan Seejattan,  Mohamed Ali and Rameez Mohamed and Syed Hassan with 25.

Seejattan and Ali were given the trophy however, having done the most laps while the 0-1500cc went to Haniff Mohamed and Raymond Seebarran.

Meanwhile in the Drags division, Pankraj Ramdeo with 249 points won the 15-second class, Rayon Brijpal with 179 points won the 14-second class and the 13-second class winner was Narindradutt Mangar with 218 points.

Romeo Singh with 184 points snagged the 12-second class with Chet Singh taking the 11-second class with 147 points and Damion Singh taking the 10-second class (310) points.

The nine-second class was won by Raj Panday while the unlimited class was picked up by team Mohamed’s Enterprise.

Balram Ramdeo won the best mechanic for both Endurance and Drag racing, 249 points ahead of Sean Persaud 1073, and Anil Persaud with 631 points.
