– in police’s quest for legal advice
THE police file on the involvement of HGP Nightly News anchor, Travis Chase in the shooting of a Kitty resident has been reportedly sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
Chase, a licensed firearm holder, reportedly shot Jimmy Ramgobin, 28, of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty in self defence on the night of Monday December 3, 2018 outside his girlfriend’s home on DeAbreu Street, Newtown.
According to the police, Chase alleged that on pulling up in his vehicle with his girlfriend outside her home, he saw Ramgobin loitering there.

The newsman reportedly told the police that upon exiting his vehicle and approaching Ramgobin, the latter began hurling bottles at him from a bag he was carrying, causing him to have to pull out his weapon and discharge a round at him.
When the Guyana Chronicle spoke with Ramgobin on Monday, he explained that the reason he was outside Chase’s girlfriend’s house was because he was drunk and had fallen asleep there. He said he was in a deep sleep when Chase attacked him.
“In my sleep, I felt a person kicking me in my ribs,” Ramgobin said. “And when I open my eye and look up, this person had a gun in their hand. I felt frighten, and I get up and run,” he added.
He said that it was as he was running away that Chase opened fire on him. “When I meet by Garnett Street, Kitty,” Ramgobin said, “I feel a burning behind my foot and I stop and feel; is then I saw a set of blood on my hand.”
Ramgobin is claiming that he was shot innocently, and that he did nothing to warrant it. “I want justice! I’m not looking for compensation!” he said.
