NEW president of the Guyana Volleyball Federation, Levi Nedd, is looking to use his “great” experience in Mexico at the FIVB 36th World Congress to build the sport locally.

Nedd was able to make representation for the development of volleyball in Guyana at the event, which attracted almost 200 other nations.

He also participated meaningfully with his South American Confederation, the Confederação Sul-americana de Voleibol (CSV), when he helped to arrange fixtures for the Olympic Beach Qualifiers scheduled for Argentina, while he also took part in various ratification processes.

HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

The 57-year-old, who recently returned from the four-day event, has hit the ground running. He has already begun making contacts with various associations and sporting entities to prepare them for what he hopes to achieve in 2019.

He is calling on the volleyball family to “get down to brass tacks and be a part of effective change and development of volleyball in Guyana”.

The long-serving volleyball administrator, who was elected unopposed to the top spot in the GVF earlier this month, added that a lot of energy will be placed on the schools’ programme.

Before the end of next month, Nedd hopes to fill the vacant positions in the federation, including that of a technical director and a general secretary to “realise a brand new start in 2019”.
