THE New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) brushed aside the Lower Corentyne Secondary School by 173 runs to win the final of the Region Six Mogu Mogu Under-19 Inter Secondary School cricket competition on Friday last at the Area H ground.

In the competition, which was the 18th completed by the Berbice Cricket Board, NATI batted first and raced to 223-7 in 30 overs after Garfield Benjamin struck 88 runs. Brandon Stewart added 40 and Stephen Kamaladin 21. Damon Cecil and Vijay Gopilall led Lower Corentyne with two wickets each.

In reply, Bryon Persaud and Simon Naidu walked through the lower Corentyne batsmen. The pair took eight wickets between them to restrict their opponents to 50 in 12 overs. Persaud finished with 4-22 runs and Naidu 4-19 runs. Neil Tillakram (10) was the lone batsman to reach double figures.
